DAN – First Aid Course
You want to help, but don’t know how? You want safety for your fellow divers when you are on holiday? You want to know what to do in an emergency?
DAN – Divers Alert Network – has been providing excellent diving safety training for many years.
The course covers the first aid approach to diving accidents, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the administration of oxygen.
Course description:
The DAN – First Aid Course for Divers consists of three elements:
Basic Life Support – is entry-level training that teaches first responders how to administer immediate life-saving measures to adults who are in a life-threatening condition after alerting emergency services.
Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries is designed as a lay first aid course for the further training of all divers and interested non-divers (e.g. the captain of a charter boat). It teaches the recognition of diving accidents and the administration of oxygen as first aid.
First Aid – A course to train people who have a HWL/BLS certificate to administer first aid to adult victims who do not have directly life-threatening injuries. Although the course has been created to be given together with the DAN BLS course, it can also be offered as an extra module to people who already have a DAN BLS or other BLS certificate that complies with the ERC guidelines. In an actual accident situation, first aid skills are the next step after BLS, basic life support.
With the support of the teaching material, you prepare for the course in a relaxed way. We will go into the theory together and answer all your questions on the various topics of the DAN course.
In practical exercises you will learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation and how to use the automatic defibrillator. How do I dress a wound and what is a pressure dressing? How do I use oxygen in first aid? A lot of other useful information is included in this course.
Credentials after the course:
The course concludes with DAN certification for these courses. The DAN course is an essential part of the Stress & Rescue Programme. It is recognised as the basis for all rescue courses and also professional diving courses.
You will broaden your horizons and learn a lot about the basics of what to do in an emergency situation.
The course should be refreshed at regular intervals.
